Perfect
On a starless night, the moon hides from view
I look to the sky, but see only you
A sea of the infinite, where Heaven lies
Somehow contained in one pair of eyes
I have heard of those lost, in the grip of a dream
Never awakening, struggling to scream
Not from a nightmare or terror-filled hole
Simply the lack of a close kindred soul
Poets have written the miserable lots
Of those doomed to wander, like empty robots
Who never in life found a spark, or a flame
To warm them, inspire them, ask them the same
But equally known are the fortunate few
Who stumble upon their own someone who
Fits the puzzle within them as though torn apart
From the very same hole in the very same heart
As I sit here, my eyes closed, and blind to the sky
Seeing perfectly clear as though you sit beside
I can't help but smile, though the days have been few
How the shape in my heart seems so perfect for you.
