Very few know that people live f
here. Most think that the rooms are only offices.
Some say that there is a ghost, I
although I have never seen
or heard it. The quiet halls, creaky floors and mildew filled air
often reminds me of a haunted house.
The structure was an old house,
and when the college was young, people used to live
here. Sometimes the air
is so thick with uncertainty that a ghost does haunt the offices.
Some say that if you go up to the attic -- you'll never be seen
again! Some say that they have seen the ghost.
But these people have seen flying saucers! So I say there is no ghost
who haunts the building where we are housed
as resident students. None of us have ever seen
the entity and we've lived
there all semester above those night darkened offices.
The residents think that gossip is the only thing that haunts the air.
Most of the time, the air
is filled with sounds of music and odors of food __not of ghosts.
the people who work below us in the offices
don't think that we should think of Elderdice as a house
but we do. They would rather we live
somewhere else -- never again to be seen.
True, sometimes we can be obscene
with music that radiates through the air
like a caustic stench. But we as students are in the prime of our lives
and may haunt Elderdice, as the ghost
sUpposedly does, with our obsession of making it home.
"Thpptttr: to the people in the offices.
We don't have neatto jobs with stuffy offices.
And the only time we see
them is when they want to clutter the attic of our house
with more paper work. So if there is tension in the air
it's not our fault. And if there's a ghost __
it is more than welcome to stay and live.
