when will the poets
dare to dream, alive
with both eyes wide
and both arms open
swallowing the world
without gritting their
ibm punched teeth and
gagging coca-cola throats

the safe deposits of the soul
burying the passbook and key
beneath the moon, forever
waiting for the stars
to lick the dawn
of their day
