By the same token, able writing is self-discovery_Sound original
criticism is where we encounter the startling revelation contained in
discovering what we actually think. Poetry, as someone cogently re-
marked, is a language we invent to express our Own amazement. And
all expressive writing, whether by intention or not, has beauty, genuine
and moving, no matter how simple or humble the design.

      Thus it is true that this small bundle of pages, however unpre-
tentious, represents an adventurous inner world of beauty and achieve-
ment. It will deserve, and will have, many devoted friends, writers
and readers alike.

     And so, Contrast, we greet you with pleasure at the beginning of
your career and cordially bid you bon voyage.
