In the Hawaiian language, the word 'Aloha"has I many meanings. Love, compassion, mercy, and I affection are just a few of the uses. However, 'l\loha' is most commonly used to say 'hello" and '@odbye". Thus, this word is a very appropriate theme for a yearboOk as each year the school I welcomes in new freshmen and bids farewell to the ~ graduating seniors. In 1893, at then Western Maryland College,the president of the college found so much meaning in this word, the yearbook was named Aloha and remained so for n.years. While the name of this yearbook is still Pathways. we wanted to honor the classic name Aloha as the theme of this book.
