LrOUghout a student's career at Western Maryland College he or she is bombarded by bijillions of advertisements. They are everywhere on campus: in Glar, the Book Store, Lewis and Memorial, Rouzer, Whiteford, McDaniel and ANW, Decker Center, PELC, and even Smith House. Someone is always trying to sell something. The Career Services Office posts job openings on a regular basis. It is impossible to pass through Decker without seeing the bulletin board cluttered with notices: to catch a ride, buy old books, or an apartment to share. The WMC Billboard is constantly advertising on channel three, and who hasn't gone to his or her mailbox to find it empty, except for a purple sheet selling Microfridge food products? CAPBoard is always advertising something and the foreign language suites bring attention to the showing of unique films. But, without these many advertisements no one would know how to locate the services he or she needs. These advertisements keep one connected to the campus, and even more importantly, to the outside world. The advertising found in Crossroads is not necessarily a means of selling products and services. Instead it is a chance for community entrepreneurs to say thank you to the students who have patronized their establishments during their years at WMC. Many parents have also placed ads in the following pages as a special way to say congratulations and express their pride in their favorite graduates. Thank you to all who purchased advertising. The funds gained from ad sales offset the cost of yearbook production. Without the ads section there would be no yearbook. Advertising 127
