MAY WEEKEND • This year's May Day festivities, orga nized by our hard-working College Ac· tivlties staff, revolved around a theme of "Almost Anything Goes." Despite the drizzly weather which placed many ac- tivities indoors, much enthusiasm was generated, especially for the unique contests'! The first contest, the JeJlo Slurp. was won by Bob Heckle after a tie·breaking slurp-off with Mark Cavan' auqh. Next, Steve Maciejczyk devoured more watermelon than his opponents before a crowd of amazed spectators. John Hackney proved himself to be a pie-lover. as he gobbled a chocolate cream pie before anyone else could fin· ish. The amazing Dan Fielder won the tobacco·spitting contest, sending his spittle off of the Forum patio for are' cord distance. The well-precflced Tim Streett won the soda chugging contest. Finally, the Preachers dragged the ROTC team through the mud to win the tie breaking round of Tug of War, end- ing the official May Day competitions. 48
