Passages is the title that we on the Yearbook Staff feel best represents the theme of the 1978~79 school year. This year has been one of drastic change for the college commu- nity. With the addi- tion of a new college center and a new center for performing arts it is a time of great opportunity for the Western Mary- land Student. But it is also a time of stress as exemplified by the sometimes violent occurrences on campus. Passages does not attempt to explain these changes, but instead documents and de- scribes these transi- Hans that transform both the student and the campus. The concept of passage is as com- plex -as one's individ- ual journey. Through the following pages we will attempt to characterize the idea, and elaborate on both the people and the place that togeth- er form Western Maryland College. 3
