B. Faulkner 1. Law Mr. William Tribby (Vice-President!) (Treasurer l, Vice- (Sponsor) President II) "And to promote the hearty cooperation with the college and all its interests ... " Intimately intermingled with the life of Western Maryland R.Smith }. Wicklein R. Creighton College as a whole, Gamma Beta Chi has of- (Secretary l) (SecreJoryll) (Treesurer Il ) fered much to many, and has stood in the light of many images, but above all else Gamma Beta GAMMA BETA CHI Chi stands but for men ... not for wealth, character. or rank, for honor, personal and worth "We the Members of Gamma Beta Chi, in order to form a more perfect Fellowship" . Those words have rung out once a week some- where on the Western Maryland Campus (or maybe it was over the Tavern when fraternities weren't approved), for over forty-two years. The Fraters of Gamma Beta Chi have met as Broth- ers in almost every conceivable place on campus, the Elderdice basement, Alumni Hall, MacLea J. Baker Hall, etc., etc., but one thing has never changed, they are Brothers. "Establish loyalty, elevate sociability, insure honesty among the Student body" ... A fra- ternity changes and times change, but deeply ingrained in every Brother of Gamma Beta Chi is a feeling of Brotherhood which has been earned, and once earned is cherished with a feeling of pride that lasts when many other things fail. Proof of this is that Gamma Beta Chi has las led through a depression, a world war, and a Korean conflict. Gamma Beta Chi lasts because its Brothers are enduring, and because its Fruters have long recognized the fact that survivability is synonomous with pro- gress and change. "Promote the highest type of sportsmanship in athletics, insure higher scholastic standing" ... No fraternity or college ever meets these standards with the ideal, but Gamma Beta Chi in the framework of the Western Maryland atmosphere has always been dose to the top. In the memories of the graduating Brothers are seen two SGA presidents, four generations of follies writers, two JFC presidents, the founders of ODK, as wen as other brothers who have held every major elected office on campus- sometimes all in the same year.
