On September 23, 1959, we entered two hundred and seventy-eight strong to become the "new frontier" of West- ern Maryland College. Laden with high hopes and heavy books we started on our rough path to that dim and dis- tant June '63. A wet Homecoming and a one-hundred-seventy-five-dollar Boat failed to dampen our spirits, which pulled us through biology, term papers, <111d our first set of college exams. FRESHMAN YEAR- "t'Twns the night before our first Homecoming ... "
