On the All-South team were senior co-captain George Varga, junior co- captain Jack Haile, and halfback Laszlo Zscbcdics. Both Varg'a and Zsebedics also took Middle Atlantic and Mason-Dixon Con terence positions. Wayne Whitmore, a sopho- more, received Honorable Mention on the Middle Atlantic squad. Consistently high scorer and All-American from last year, Varga nlonc scored 17 goals, which equaled the goals scored against western Maryland this season. Opening the season with two losses, the Terrors snapped back quickly with a shut- OUt against Washington College. The only tie 01' the campaign carne against Catholic University. Leading until the final quarter, the Terrors were una hle to maintain their lead in this CU homecoming contest. This was the first Lime in over 20 years that Catholic University was unable to win a homecoming game. The victory over Hopkins concluded a successful season for the soccer squad at western Maryland and graduating star George Varga. 68
