Getting Started with Finding Articles

Step 1: Searching

If you want to find articles, but aren't sure where to start, try "Academic Search Premier" or "Expanded Academic ASAP" -- the selections that are in bold on the database list. These are the most commonly used databases as they cover a broad range of academic subject areas.

For a more guided subject search, you may also check the Subject Guides. These guides give you the resources you need to find research on a topic in a given subject area.

Step 2: Find the article

Many of our databases now have full text. These databases generally have a citation with link to the article's "full text", which means you can get the entire article online. If this is the case, click on the link and you can get the entire article and print or read it.

If the article is not available in full text, you may check to see whether or not we have it available in a different database with full text or if Hoover Library has the journal. If you want to find if the library has the journal, you can do this by typing your search terms (title, subject, etc.) in the search boxes at the top of the databases page, which will search our catalog:

Similarly, you can search to see if the article is available in full text in a different database. Many journals are available in multiple databases.

If you need assistance using any of our resources, please do not hesitate to contact a librarian.
