Objectives of the Hoover Library Information Literacy Program

 

Students will be able to differentiate between the Hoover Library Catalog and the library databases.

 

Students will be able to recognize the value of both print and electronic resources for research.

 

Students will understand the need to evaluate resources in terms of quality, validity and applicability regardless of medium and for relevance to the research need.

 

Students will be able to develop and implement and effective search strategy/process appropriate for an information need.

 

Students will understand the organizational content bibliographic structure, function and use of information sources.

 

Students will understand the way collections of information sources are physically organized or accessed.

 

Students will comply with the honor code set forth by McDaniel College and understand the need for ethical behavior in research.

 

Students will understand that the library staff is comprised of individuals with varying degrees and areas of expertise, who provide certain services through departments and who may be helpful in accessing information.
