HIGHLIGHTED PROJECTS

IMLS SPARKS! IGNITION GRANT

The grant provides nearly $25,000 for a collaborative project with Goucher College, Ursinus College,
Washington College and Washington & Jefferson College, to develop best practices for ensuring that
information literacy education programs in smaller college libraries support the success and persistence
of at-risk students in their critical first year.

STUDENT CAREER DEVELOPMENT

Student employees completed projects that helped them develop their career skills, including
completing inventories of Fraternity, Sorority and Bish collections; digitizing Alumni scrapbooks;
reconciling ERIC microfiche holdings; and helping us with serials online access changes. We also
implemented an expanded training program that includes more about customer service.

                                FAKE NEWS PANEL

                                              Hoover Library hosted a panel discussion about fake news and alternative
                                              facts, and included faculty members from Communications & Cinema,
                                              Political Science & International Studies, and Psychology. The audience was
                                              a mix of approximately 45 students, faculty, and community members who
                                              engaged in a lively discussion about navigating our information environ-
                                              ment today, and learned strategies for identifying and avoiding bias.
