Access & Circulation Policies


Hoover Library is a member of the Carroll Library Partnership and is open to the public but its primary mission is to support the students and faculty of McDaniel College.

Limited borrowing privileges are available at no charge to McDaniel College alumni and trustees; to registered patrons of the Carroll Library Partnership; and to faculty and students at other independent colleges and universities in Maryland. Non-campus users may borrow up to 5 items for a period of 3 weeks. AV and Reserves are for the exclusive use of McDaniel College students and staff. Limited reference assistance is available to the general public as time permits.

Borrowers application forms are available at the Circulation Desk. Applications may be accepted at any time but cards are only issued during office hours, Monday through Friday.

OPERATING HOURS

Library hours are as follows during the regular academic term.

Monday - Thursday, 8:00 - Midnight
Friday, 8:00 - 9:00
Saturday, 9:00 - 9:00
Sunday, Noon - Midnight

Hours vary when classes are not in session and updates are posted at the library's web page.

LENDING PERIODS

Books: four weeks, three weeks non-campus borrowers
Juvenile literature: four weeks Restricted to college community
Video, other AV: 24 hours Limit of 2 items, restricted to college community
Reserves: four hours unless noted otherwise by permission of course instructor. Limit of one item at a time, restricted to college community.
Newspapers, Periodicals, Reference, Special Collections May not be taken from the library.

FINES

Books: $0.25 per day
Video, other AV $1.00 per day
Reserves $0.50 per hour
Maximum fine: $25.00 per item
Lost or damaged: $45.00 per item
