Abstract

This collection contains memorabilia from Ruth Hageman Hiltz's four years at Western Maryland College. Included with ephemera are a scrapbook from Hiltz's freshman year that includes photographs and illustrations by her and a paper lantern used for the Lantern Chain Ceremony with a description of the ceremony.

Scope and Contents of the Materials

Ruth H. Hiltz's collection adds rich information about mid 20th century women college students at Western Maryland College. The lantern, description of the Chain Ceremony, and her scrapbook comment on the relationship of women students at the college.
