Abstract

Historical records of the McDaniel College Board of Trustees including copies of the Charter, early deeds, bonds, and mortgages, biographies of early board members, lists of Trustees through 2007, Trustee directories, and photographs. This collection also includes citations sent to the Board of Trustees honoring the College.

Collection Historical Note

Western Maryland College was founded in 1867. "The Charter and Fundamental Ordinances of the College were first published in the Annual Catalogue of 1868." The first revision of the Charter and Ordinances was approved by the Board in 1891. A rewrite of the By-laws of the Board of Trustees was approved in 1922 and in 1941 the Charter was rewritten and Fundamental Ordinances was rewritten in 1944. Further reviews and revisions were approved in 1967, 1976, 1988, 1991, 1998, and 2001. In 2002 the Board of Trustees unanimously approved the name change from Western Maryland College to McDaniel College. The by-laws of McDaniel College were revised in 2010.
