Abstract

The Fernanda Doria collection consists of vocal scores used by Doria for her performances and for her classes at Western Maryland College, publicity photographs of opera singers and musicians of the early twentieth century, Doria’s own publicity photographs, thank you letters for her performances, opera programs, and a few pieces of her correspondence, score manuscripts, and writings.

Scrapbooks in the collection were put together by Maude Gesner, professor of music at Western Maryland College, after Fernanda Doria's death.

Scores and other music were donated to Western Maryland College by Fernanda Doria. Many of these scores were removed from the collection. All scores that had notations and marks highlighting musical passages or verse were kept. A list of music removed will be attached to this record.

Six scrapbooks containing photographs of teachers, friends, and students; programs from operas and ballets and one that contains thank you letters from institutions where she performed. One citation certificate for her performances at the Verdi Conservatory in Milan in 1926. Fernanda Doria's professional photographs. Maude Gesner's photograph signed to Fernanda Doria. Two panorama photographs: Inaugural season of the San Francisco Opera, 1923, and Era Miner's Day , May 1, 1918, at the Panama-Pacific International Expo.
