Historical Note: On Faculty of Western Maryland College (now McDaniel College) from 1947-1966.  J. W. Hendren was born in Philadelphia and earned his B.A., M.A., and Ph.D. in English from Princeton University.  He taught at Mt. Hermon School, Gettysburg, the Rice Institute, and the Dublin School.
