The McDaniel College Archives at Hoover Library was established in 1975 as the repository for the records of the College that are past their life cycle and are of historical value and for other documents and artifacts related to the history of the institution.
Records of the College include:

Annual reports of the President and other officers of the College
Faculty minutes and committee reports
College Presidential papers
Student Records
College Catalogs
College publications
Student newspapers
Student literary publications
Alumni publications
Publications of Faculty
Student scrapbooks
Photographic prints collection documenting the campus, students, and faculty from 1866 to the present
The Archives also includes special collections that have been deposited in the Archives because they add depth to the College's history or they are of interest to students, faculty, and/or alumni.
Special collections include:
Diaries of James Thomas Ward from 1866 to 1895
Diaries of Dorothy Elderdice, writer and producer of pageants, from 1903 to 1979
Brigadier General Robert Joshua Gill Papers including documents and scrapbooks of his work as executive under Justice Robert Jackson at the Nuremberg Trials in 1945-1946
Morris W. Rannels Collection (Superintendent of Cecil County schools) 1952-1960
The Archives is located on the second floor of the Hoover Library at McDaniel College. The Archives is opened from 8:30 am to 1:30 pm Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday. Wednesday hours are 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm during fall and spring semesters only, otherwise Wednesday hours are 8:30 am to 1:30 pm. The Archives is closed when the Library is closed. It is strongly suggested you call or email the Archivist to make an appointment.
